ABOUT
Born in Paris to a Greek family, in a cosmopolitan atmosphere, Clio learned the classical harp for two decades and afterward the Turkish saz with Talip Ozkan, then oriented herself towards improvised music and traditional musical systems. She spent six years in India, where she developed her understanding of the Indian melodic and rhythmic systems but also a personal approach to improvisation on the harp. She has played at several world music festivals in France, Asia, and Europe (she played with several Indian musicians, including Talvin Singh and Sivamani). Clio develops a style and a sound in her compositions and improvisations, which sublimates the classical harp. In the confluence of free jazz, contemporary music, and oriental music, she incorporates all her influences into a unique melodic-rhythmic language. Ariadne is her first solo CD, weaving together the golden threads of her personal musical quest up to now.
