About "BAMBA By BATCH GUEYE (2014"
From the 2014 album Ndiarigne

This song is in praise of Serigne Touba, also known as Cheikh Amadou Bamba (1853–1927) . He was a Muslim Sufi leader in Senegal who founded the Mouride Brotherhood and the holy cities of Touba and Djourbel. He peacefully opposed the French colonialists, who tried to get rid of him, by torture, attempted executions, and by exiling him for many years in Gabon and Mauritania, all of which he survived and eventually was allowed back to Senegal in 1910. He taught the virtues of pacifism, the importance of hard work and good manners, and he could be classed as one of - if not the - biggest influence on contemporary Senegalese life and culture.
