ABOUT
Born in Asahikawa, Hokkaido. After she was crowned Ms. Sapporo in 1984, she made her debut as a tango singer with the original album "Tango Primavera." She attracted attention as a tango singer of new sensibility and was considered a supernova in the world of tango. Soon after her talent as a singer was acknowledged, she went to Argentina to record her album and was exposed to a number of media outlets. In Japan, she participated in a tour with one of the best Argentine Tango bands. She also works as an actress, presenter, and more. After working as a solo vocalist for the Orquesta Del Sol, she is currently performing concerts in 14 countries around the world, including Japan, South America, and Europe, as a top tango artist. She was selected as one of "100 Japanese People The World Respects" by Newsweek Japan in 2005. In 2008, she received the award "20 People Who Contributed to Tango" at the La Falda Tango Festival.

She released an Argentine folk music album in 2009 after meeting Mercedes Sosa.

In 2010, she was invited to the Bicentennial Anniversary of Argentina fest at Casa de la Cultura "Salón Dorado" and performed as the first Japanese artist ever. She had a Piazzolla concert in 2012 and received great acclaim. In recent years, she's expanding her horizons by taking on a variety of new projects, such as starring in the movie "Watashi no Michi (My Life)," the musical drama "Tenshi no Diary (Angel Diary)," holding "Parent-Child Concerts," giving lectures, and more.
