A Platform for Ethnically and Culturally Inspired Music
About "Las Berenjenas De Sefarad (Sepharad Aubergines)"
This theme is chapter X of the Circumterra album, which deals with the First World Tour of Magellan and Elcano.
This traditional Sephardic theme has been found on the Island of Rhodes in Greece, where many of the Sephardim fled after their expulsion from Spain in 1492. In these themes, expressions and accents of the old Castilian of the fifteenth century, what we call ladino, are preserved. For the Jews, aubergines are a party food and arrived on the peninsula via the Silk Road, since it is a fruit native to India. In this theme we wanted to make a composition with our own arrangements and variants inspired by Hellenic music, including instruments that are played in this region.
Musical instruments: Banjo Bandolín, Turkish Oúd, Turkish Cumbús, Greek Bouzuki, Peñaparda Pandero, Violin, Cauldron, Turkish Lavta, Charrasco, Marimar Pozo voice, Choirs (Ángel Prádanos, Julio Pozo, Ángel Pozo).
Este tema tradicional Sefardí se ha encontrado en la Isla de Rodas en Grecia, donde huyeron muchos de los sefarditas tras su expulsión de España en 1492. En estos temas se conservan expresiones y dejes del castellano antiguo del siglo XV, lo que llamamos ladino. Las berenjenas para los judíos son un alimento de fiesta y llegaron a la península por la Ruta de la Seda, ya que es un fruto originario de la India. En este tema hemos querido hacer una composición con arreglos propios y variantes inspiradas en la música helena, incluyendo instrumentos que se tocan en esta región.
