ABOUT
Zazuka is the artist name of Jordanian-born, Berlin-based composer, sound designer, and songwriter Zeina Azouqah. Her music is at times atmospheric and at times percussive, utilizing both acoustic and electronic elements with a penchant for chamber pop. Zazuka embarked on her path in music as a keyboard and piano player in bands, theaters, and Sufi poetry groups. Through these multicultural experiences and her Adige (indigenous peoples of the Caucasus mountains) heritage, she developed an authentic style for intercultural music arrangements and composition. Some of her pieces have been performed by the renowned Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg, WDR Funkhaus Orchestra in Cologne, and various intercultural chamber ensembles in Berlin.

As a singer-songwriter, she has released two chamber-pop and classical crossover singles ("Turn Everything" and "Hudna" with string quartet) in addition to her eponymous first album, Zazuka, in 2019. Various versions of her songs and arrangements have been performed by singers of all genres, from Arabic Classical to Opera to Cabaret.

After moving to Germany in 2009, Zazuka completed her studies in Film and Animation in Nuremberg and stepped into the film music world, scoring various short and medium-length films, while also working as a score editor for feature film productions. The multiple-award-winning "NICO," which Zazuka scored under her given name, Zeina Azouqah, along with her colleague Doro Bohr, was nominated in 2022 for Germany's candidate for the Best International Feature category at the Oscars.
