Ethnically and Culturally Inspired Music
About "Sonbahar"
This piece was inspired by the reconciliation work
of Stuttgart’s mayor (from 1974 to 1996), Manfred Rommel. The late 1960s and early 70s were a time of largescale civil unrest in Germany. (The so-cal-
led “German Autumn”) As a result of these heated times, Rommel was one of the first of the old Federal Republic politicians to recognize post World War 2 immigrants as fully-fledged members of society.
We wrote this piece on the occasion of our orchestra being awarded the Manfred Rommel Prize of the German-Turkish Forum in 2013.
