Havana Libre — Caracol de la Havana
The story goes that a group of tourists from the Baltic States went to Cuba on holiday. During their stay in Havana, they went to one of the shows by Havana Libre (Caracol de la Havana). They liked it so much, they straightaway invited the band to perform in the Baltic States.
That’s where we met this quintet of exceptional musicians. Havana Libre is one of those bands that is full of talent and yet always manages to pass under the radar.
The lead vocalist, Yuni, was a member of “Tiempo Libre”. They received the Grammy nomination for “Best Tropical Album” in 2009. Roberto, the percussionist, has worked with the famous band “Médico de la Salsa” and toured the world with different music bands. Iovanni, plays the saxophone, the flute and does vocals as well; he started his music career when he was just 10 years old.
