Josh Meck

Josh Meck is a world music artist who fuses African rhythms from Zimbabwe and traditional Zimbabwean instruments like the mbira, ngoma, and marimba with modern instruments, coupled with jazz and funk. His main instrument, the bass guitar, drives the music with a strong presence of marimba and mbira, giving the music a rare sound. In Zimbabwe, the mbira was used in ceremonies to invoke ancestral spirits and for parties that lasted the whole night back in the Stone Age.

Josh Meck has reignited the culture of the mbira by fusing it with modern instruments, in the process preserving the great heritage of Zimbabwe through his music and giving the music international recognition.
