Josh Meck

Josh Meck is a world music artist who fuses his African rhythms of Zimbabwe and the Zimbabwean traditional instruments like mbira, ngoma and marimba together with modern instruments coupled with jazz and funk. His main instrument the bass guitar drives the music with a strong presence of marimba and mbira giving the music a rare sound. In Zimbabwe the mbira was used in ceremonies to invoke ancestral spirits and for parties that lasted the whole night back in the stone age.

Josh Meck has reignited the culture of mbira but fusing it with modern instrument in the process preserving the great heritage of Zimbabwe through his music and giving the music international recognition.
