About "Yellow Meal"
Doyle, Fromsier, Andersson (DFA) playing a song called "Yellow meal" about a young lad from Sligo and his journey across the Atlantic in a notorious packet boat. Tapscott supposedly tricks the young emigrant by the use the word ‘meal’ - which in some Irish dialects is pronounced like ‘mail’. If the ship concerned was carrying ‘mail’ it belonged to the fastest instead of a third-rate boat, which served the poor Irish emigrants a “meal” ration daily.
