A Platform for Ethnically and Culturally Inspired Music
About "07. The Sun Shines Now - SUNBIRD - Andres Coll Odyssey [Balaio Records 2024]"
The Sun Shines Now is a song totally inspired in Ibiza, for the intro I was inspired by the vast coastal landscapes
of the island, cliffs and colossal rocks, blasts of sea wind, waves and the calm horizon. When it came to composing
the next part of the song, I used the chords with which I harmonize the Ibizan flute melodies, in the same key as
in the previous intro and with a rhythm that matched the Ibizan drum. In the end it turned out that the rhythm of
the Ibizan drum carries in itself, in its DNA, what I call the ''universal clave'' a rhythmic pattern found in music from
around the world, Morocco, Brazil, Cuba, Africa, ... and of course, rock music also has this clave coming from
traditional rhythms, so I came up with a rock song without knowing it, but since I have a rock tendency sometimes,
I took the song to end most of my concerts.
