About "Circle Divine"
In ancient philosophy, the circle was already considered the perfect geometric form: a symbolic representation of unity, completeness, and the cyclical nature of the universe. It is a discrete unit of infinity, without a beginning or an end, without direction or orientation. Of course, the logical conclusion to be drawn here is that the hurdy gurdy, with its endless wheel bow, must also be the perfect instrument! These musings inspired the humble title of this tune – as did the fact that our “Circle Divine” is excellent for endless circle dances (French: cercle). Our most ambitious piece to date is perfectly rounded out by Elisabeth Coudoux’s atmospheric cello lines.
