ABOUT
Y'nāż is a cross-cultural musical experience. It is the latest creative expression of American singer/songwriter Zani McPherson, in which she invites other singers and musicians to collaborate in creating a new synthesis of sounds and styles. Known for her distinctive fusion of pop, blues, and soul with world music, her concept is to meet musicians while traveling and exchange musical ideas with them along the way. These ideas take form as songs which are recorded in live sessions on location, capturing the spontaneous magic of the moment. The song collections are consequently released as the project's albums.
Y'nāż's soul-stirring sound has many influences but draws mostly on the roots and musical traditions of indigenous cultures from around the globe. While the majority of the songs are in English, a few are entirely in Spanish or Portuguese, and others may include small passages in the native languages of collaborating musicians.
