ABOUT
VOCAL GLOBAL
A musical journey around the world, taking you from the Caribbean to the Middle-East and beyond.
Vocal Global explore their origins and influences and create music that crosses borders and cultures.
DavidX (Martinique)- violin, guitar, self-made instruments and beat-box
Noga (Isreal)-vocals, piano
Rachel (London)-Flute
Biography
David and Noga met in 2010 at a jam session in Berlin in a Palestinian bar. Since that moment they never stopped jamming, experimenting, collaborating with different artists and creating new music. Noga met Rachel at the Guildhall School of Music, and invited her to jump on board.
David X, one of the most unique talents from France, is a “one-man band”. He has practised beat-boxing for 20 years and mastered all of the possibilities offered by the voice. He imitates talking drums, congas, darbuka, tabla, brass, bass and the list is still long! David also builds his own instruments; with his endless imagination he builds electro-acoustic prototypes which are a mix of guitar, violin and percussion. The magic appears when David blends his vocal mastery whilst simultaneously playing the violin, guitar, loop station and dancing!
Noga Ritter is a singer-song writer, DJ and a keyboard player. Originally from Israel, she has lived in Europe for the last few years. She sings in Hebrew, English and Portuguese as well as Lingala and Wolof. In her songs you can hear the influences of a variety of different countries, cultures and centuries. The lyrics she writes are always meaningful and emotional, ranging from personal stories to political messages- backed up with eclectic grooves, of course!
Rachel Hayter is a flute player from London, although her heart lies in Latin America! She has spent a total of two and a half years living in Argentina, Ecuador and Brazil, and her influences range from classical music to tango, bossa nova, folk and jazz. She performs Brazilian choro music regularly.
