Over the past three years, The Rowan Tree has gained a notable reputation on the Cornish folk scene. They have earned multiple awards, winning Kan Rag Kernow (Song for Cornwall) and the prestigious Liet International XXL (NL) in 2018, and this year received a Gorsedh Kernow award for 'Outstanding Contribution to Cornish Music'.
During 2019, the band has been working on their Arts Council England funded project 'Kolar's Gold', a mixed media project telling the stories of Cornish and Indian mining families at the Kolar Gold Fields. The Kolar's Gold album will be released in February 2020 and features collaborations with over 60 musicians from Cornwall and India.
Kolar's Gold is an extraordinary achievement for a band that has proven time and again its ability to transcend the defining limits of genre whilst staying true to their passion for representing Cornish music and culture on the international stage.
