ABOUT
Sanda Farcaș's songwriting and interpretive style is rooted in folklore and is often inspired by the legendary soul, blues, and gospel creations.

Born at the heart of the Romanian minority in the pristine mountain town of Miercurea-Ciuc, Farcaș learned since early childhood how to cherish the cultural values inherited from her Transylvanian and Moldavian parents. Every folk song she heard was learned and preserved religiously. Every piece she writes is inspired by doinas, ballads, carols, church songs, by old folkloric verse, and the nation's greatest poets. Endowed with remarkable vocal (and acting) talent, she started singing on stage in front of large audiences at the age of six. By the time she turned eight, she was playing leading roles for and touring with the prize-winning children's musical theatre group of the School of Performing Arts in her hometown. The secondary school years marked Sanda's recognition as an exceptional performer in major shows, festivals, and celebrations. At the age of 12, she started her decade-long singing experience as a mezzo-soprano in the CHERUB choir from Miercurea-Ciuc and continued with the National Prize winner PSALMODIA TRANSYLVANICA choir in Cluj-Napoca, while also attending the classical vocal training program at the School of Performing Arts. At 17, Sanda Farcaș's music was played on Radio Târgu Mureș and three years later, in May 1998, she co-founded the youth folk group ALTFEL, with whom she got featured on Antena 1 national TV channel as a special guest in poet Adrian Păunescu's live-to-air show, Nightshift, followed by numerous TV and radio appearances, musical performances at national and international festivals, shows, studio and TV recordings, music prizes.

Established in Canada since 2006, she has performed at countless galas, festivals, and ethnic celebrations from New York, Toronto, Montreal, Windsor, Guelph, Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, collaborated with various artists, did the backing vocals for singer-songwriter Gilmaro's 2008 Christmas Songs album, and more. In May 2009, Săulean launched her first album 'Soul Inn', a fine collection of ballads, swing, bossa, and blues standards.
