A Platform for Ethnically and Culturally Inspired Music
ABOUT
Born in Mafikeng,

However, he was raised in Soweto, South Africa. Besides the obvious influence of rich African culture, his music reflects the influences of Jazz, Neo Soul, Negro Spirituals, and the dynamics of life. The South African concept of UBUNTU is identified in a lot of his music, as it is still the way of life for those who embrace it. The songs are sung in at least 5 native languages of the 11 official languages spoken in the country. Spirituality is an all-round integral part of Moabi's music, as it's a custom to always give reverence to MODIMO, translated as The ALMIGHTY ONE.

Moabi was a part of the world-touring group, Soweto Spiritual Singers, which is a vocal ensemble that collaborated with Grammy-winning recording artist R. Kelly during the FIFA 2010 World Cup. He's also shared stages with Femi Kuti, the son of Fela Kuti, and Afro Flamenco from Spain. Prior to relocating to the USA, he had an album with a four-piece band called E-motion that managed to perform live on SABC Africa Morning Live, a channel that is broadcast throughout the whole continent of Africa.
