ABOUT
Born in Yerevan (Armenia), Lucineh Hovanissian has been performing on stage since the age of 9 and started composing when she was only eleven years old. She was awarded at the Aram Khachaturian competitions among young composers of Armenia. Lucineh recorded her debut album in the XII century Geghard rocky monastery's sepulcher in Armenia. "Vem-sacred songs from Armenia" was released in France (ADF-Bayard Musique).

A classically trained vocalist, improviser, pianist, and composer, she freely crosses musical traditions and genres. Lucineh has toured in France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Finland, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland, the UK, the USA, Canada, and has shared the stage with Tinariwen, A Filetta, Lhasa, Juhani Aaltonen, among others.

She received numerous awards (including the UNESCO-Aschberg prize), released 3 albums, and made soundtracks for short and feature films (as musical director, singer, composer, and pianist). Her appearances include France Culture, Finnish Radio, WDR-Germany, CBC-Radio Canada, to name a few. As an artist in residence, she was invited to Symphony Space (New York), Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris), Cleveland (Cleveland Foundation), Villa Straeuli (Winterthur, Switzerland), and Visby International Composers Center (Sweden).

Lucineh speaks 5 languages, holds an M.D. 'cum laude' from the Yerevan State Medical University, and has a specialization in brain studies at Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris.
