A Platform for Ethnically and Culturally Inspired Music
ABOUT
John is a singer-songwriter, cittern and guitar player, radio show host, and music reviewer, now living in Northumberland. His songs are environmentally and politically charged, personal, and compelling. In these austere times, all his solo music is available on Bandcamp on a PWYCA (Pay What You Can Afford) basis. Sign up to his website to receive quarterly newsletters for the latest live performances, stories, and music releases.

John's powerfully delivered 2019 album "Inheritance" covers themes of ancestry, family, and love. He released his latest album "Elevation" in October 2023, and has since created a free acoustic album exclusively for 2023 subscribers to his quarterly newsletter. That offer has now gone, but there will be a new exclusive album at the end of 2024 - sign up at https://www.johnreedmusic.com

John released "Breathe" with producer Ali Karim in October 2021, and the two, together in collaboration with Jo Beth Young as NIGHTSONG, released "The Peasants' Revolt" in December 2020.

John hosts The Compendium show, formerly on Blues and Roots Radio (now off air) and now on Folk Friday Radio at both 3 pm UK time / 10 am EST / 2 am AEST and at 1 am UK time Thursday / 8 pm EST Wednesday / 12 noon AEST Thursday. The show is also uploaded every Wednesday at 8 pm UK time / 3 pm EST / 7 am AEST Thursday to https://www.mixcloud.com/JohnReedBreathe/

Music alone is not enough. John's campaigning spirit carries into his work because he believes music must have a wider purpose, and that musicians have a right to earn. As such, he has created a new monthly podcast, 'PodView,' to facilitate an ongoing conversation about the challenges, pressures, and opportunities in independent music.
