About "Concerto Grosso Op.27 - I Movimento "
The work is in the form of a baroque concerto grosso. Even if adapted to modern needs it maintains the traditional two contrasted groups: the small soloists’ group, the concertino - made up of the tuba and two sets of timpani -, and the larger orchestral group, the ripieno - composed of an orchestra with double winds, four horns, two trumpets and double basses -.
The ripieno alternates with the concertino which opposes a sort of violent, compulsive, ancestral drumming, illustrating that Concerto Grosso op.27 is a rhythmic piece.
The third movement is inspired by a poem of T. S. Elliott.
