A Platform for Ethnically and Culturally Inspired Music
ABOUT
Abdurrahman Tarikci was born in Yozgat in 1977. He graduated from the Department of Physics Education, Middle East Technical University (METU) in 1988. After that, he obtained a M.S. degree in 2002 and a Ph.D. degree in 2010 at the Physics Department at METU.

In addition to his academic work, he is a bass player, singer, arranger, and sound engineer. As a musician, he participated in some international music festivals such as "METU Jazz Days" (1996), "Akbank Jazz Festival" (1997, 1998), and "Ankara Music Festival" (1998). Furthermore, he participated in many TV programs as a member of the orchestra by playing bass and bass bağlama. Some of these programs are "Türkü Türkü Türkiyem," "Bir Nefes Anadolu," "Üçü Bir Yerde," "Bergüzar," "Dem bu dem," "Tatlı Dile Güler Yüze," "Balkan Havası," "Türkü Söylemek Lazım," "Çalsın Davullar," and "Dem-i Devran." In addition, Tarikci was the music director of many TV programs such as "Bir Hilal Uğruna Ya Rab - Çanakkale," "Duet Gecesi," "Türkülerle Yılbaşı," "Dem-i Devran," and "İmece." Also, as a sound engineer, he recorded, mixed, and mastered lots of albums.

Now, Abdurrahman Tarikci is working at "Studyo TINI" as a sound engineer, producer, and arranger. In addition, he is an assistant professor at the Department of Music of Çankırı Karatekin University, Fine Arts Faculty, and Hacettepe University, Fine Arts Institute, Department of Traditional Turkish Music.

The album of Abdurrahman Tarikci, named "Abdurrahman Tarikci – İmece," was released in 2014.

İmece is an ethno-jazz-fusion project of Abdurrahman Tarikci, based on Anatolian traditional music. This project can be defined as the search for the melodies of the mind and soul. This search sometimes could be limited to only Anatolian traditional music and sometimes could be combined with music from any part of the world.
