ABOUT
Jurema Paes é cantora, compositora e historiadora brasileira.

Jurema is a Brazilian singer, composer, and historian. She started studying music and singing when she was eight. Her first music reference was through oral tradition in her family environment, particularly by the troubadour singer and historian Fábio Paes – her father. She studied music at the Federal University of Bahia, where she also earned her master's degree in History. In 2005, she was awarded a doctorate degree in History of Cultures by PUC/SP. Her first album was released in 2002, in a partnership with the composer, producer, and pianist Marcos Vaz. Jurema develops a multidisciplinary trajectory, and throughout the track of the twisting of these contributive processes, Mestiça was born. This is the singer's second album, celebrating the mestizo baroque in the "climbing culture" of Brazil and Latin America (as this culture was named by Amálio Pinheiro).
